Marcel Theboul was born in Morocco. During the time Marcel and his family were living in Morocco many of the Jews there were moving to Israel because the push to move came from the Jewish community. Although the Moroccan government never directly pushed the Jews out of Morocco once the state of Israel was created there was some friction that began in Morocco but not nearly as much tension as there were in other North African and Middle Eastern countries towards the Jews there. Many of the Jews in Morocco decided to keep a low profile especially during this time and in 1967 most of the Jews ended up leaving Morocco for Israel.
