For the first time, the issue of Jewish refugees from North Africa and the Middle East was debated by British Parliament on Tuesday, June 19th in Westminster Hall. The discussion was initiated by MP Theresa Villiers and highlighted the absence of Jews from Arab countries in public discourse on the Middle East and North Africa. JIMENA partner, Lyn Julius of Harif, a UK organization representing Jews from the MENA is quoted saying, “It is hoped that as a result of the debate the  British government will take steps to recognize the injustice that was suffered by more than 800,000 Jewish refugees from Arab countries.”
