Leader of Lebanon's Tiny Jewish Community Dies at 80
Isaac Arazi, former head of the Lebanese Jewish Community Council, led the push to restore Beirut's Maghen Abraham synagogue. His death in 2023 marked the passing of one of the last leaders of a community present in Lebanon for some 2,000 years, which shrank from about 22,000 before the civil war to roughly 30 people.
